Description
Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) has emerged as an essential set of management tools in this age of global operations, supply chains that extend half a world away, and increasingly demanding customers. Its primary component¾Executive S&OP¾has rightfully been called “top management’s handle on the business.” Substantial¾some would say enormous—benefits accrue for companies whose Executive S&OP processes are actively led by top management.

Regarding the top management role, Executive S&OP is more challenging than MRP II/ERP, Just-in-Time/Lean, or TQM/Six Sigma. In those powerful processes, top managers must give their support and commitment; with Executive S&OP, they must do all of that and also participate hands on in the process—each and every month. It becomes a part of their jobs. However, many companies fail to achieve those benefits because their executives are not involved. The challenge in those companies is to motivate the executives to become involved and to participate—only then can the benefits be realized. But that can be difficult and is the subject of this APICS Webinar.
