APICS certification exam testing and pricing update Providing APICS certification candidates with the most flexible options for exam testing is critical to the success of our certification programs and a key element of the APICS strategic priorities. Recent updates to APICS certification exam delivery have been well-received and are becoming increasingly used by certification candidates. Following is an update on the APICS paper-and-pencil exam testing and chapter group-testing price.
APICS CSCP paper-and-pencil exam testing APICS has received an overwhelming interest in the APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) computer-based testing (CBT) exam since its rollout in 2009. Candidates prefer the CBT format thanks to faster access to results, flexibility in deciding when and where to take the exam, and more convenient exam locations. Taking these factors into consideration, effective January 1, 2011, APICS will no longer offer public APICS CSCP paper-and-pencil sites through ACT in North America. The APICS CSCP exam will be offered in Pearson VUE CBT window-format only.
Please inform your chapter members about the APICS CSCP certification update and encourage them to register for the December 4, 2010-January 15, 2011, exam window. Reservations for the December-January window open on October 6, 2010.
Chapter group-testing update On Monday, July 26, APICS announced product pricing updates effective January 1, 2011. Effective January 1, 2011, the chapter group-testing price will change from $135 to $145, consistent with the advertised-member rate for the exam.
A list of the 2011 price changes can be found here. If you have questions, please contact APICS at certification@apics.org. Best Practices 2010 APICS Volunteer Leadership Workshop (VLW) presenter PowerPoint presentations

Q&A
Q: Do I have to be an APICS member to qualify for the APICS CPIM Recertification Exam? Tell me more about the availability period.
No; however, APICS members receive a discount of more than 25 percent on exam registration fees and receive valuable savings on reference materials and educational programs. Your membership status must be active when you register to ensure that you receive the member rate. To allow adequate time for your membership information to be transferred to Pearson VUE, you should wait until you have received your membership card before attempting to register.
The exam was available for the first time at the APICS International Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 17, 2010. This exam was in the paper-and-pencil testing format. The exam will be available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico via computer-based testing in December 2010 and will be available through December 2011. Internationally, the exam will be delivered in paper-and-pencil format starting in December 2010.
The program is available for one year only; candidates who know they will qualify should submit their application to APICS as soon as possible. Candidates will receive a response within two weeks of applying. The APICS CPIM Recertification exam is only available to those candidates whose designation lapsed for 10 years or more. APICS will review each candidate's record to ensure eligibility and provide the information to the test vendor.
