Recognize Stellar APICS Members: Nominate Them Today!

2011 APICS Future Leaders Program

APICS once again is pleased to offer the Future Leaders Program, a leadership development program to identify and mentor young professionals into becoming future APICS leaders. This program is designed to provide an opportunity for highly motivated individuals who are early in their careers and relationships with APICS to participate in a year-long training and committee experience. This not only is an important development opportunity for participating individuals, the program also supports the APICS strategic goal of developing leadership in the organization.

We need your help in selecting participants who can benefit from this experience. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2010. Download the 2011 APICS Future Leaders Program nomination form here.

Nominate Outstanding APICS Volunteers by June 30
Recognize our most dedicated leaders by nominating them for the Voluntary Service Award, Student Voluntary Service Award, or the Student Chapter Mentor Award. APICS also is pleased to introduce a new award this year, the International Voluntary Service Award.

Download award applications from the Awards section of the APICS web site.

Access the Revised APICS Student Chapter Leadership Handbook
APICS is pleased to announce the release of the newly revised Student Chapter Management Program Chapter Leadership Handbook. This and other handbooks are available exclusively to APICS chapter and district officers in C-BOX in the Chapter Leaders, Handbooks section.

Leadership handbooks serve as great sources of information, assisting chapter leaders in effective management of their chapters. They also serve to orient incoming board members to their new roles and assist in further training for returning leaders.

The student chapter leadership handbook guides and advises on the process of running a successful student chapter. Student leaders can follow the manual step by step, working alongside their professional chapter. Also contained within the handbook is an awards evaluation schedule and summary sheets to assist student leaders and professional chapter evaluators. This helps everyone understand what has been accomplished on an annual basis by providing a clear and logical progression of a student chapter.

Over the course of the year, additional chapter management handbooks will be updated and made available in C-BOX. Hard copies will continue to be available for order in the APICS Bookstore. Efforts continually are being made to improve the quality of these resources. If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact APICS District and Chapter Services at (800) 444-2742 or (773) 867-1777, ext. 5436, or send an email to chaprel@apics.org.

APICS CPIM Recertification Exam and Distance Learning Program Update Webinar
A two-part APICS Webinar about the APICS Distance Learning Program and the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Recertification Exam took place on May 24.

The APICS Distance Learning Program Webinar provided an update about the program, and the most recent program information was shared.

In addition, APICS announced a new certification product known as the APICS CPIM Recertification Exam. The APICS CPIM Recertification Exam provides an opportunity to individuals whose CPIM credentials have expired. Instead of taking all five CPIM exams again, expired candidates can renew their certification by taking only one exam.

Please see below for a link to the recording of this APICS Webinar and a link to the presentation slides.
